Amirah Ra’oof-Boyo is a licensed professional and experienced massage therapist who loves to share her passion, knowledge of massage and healing touch. With her nurturing and positive approach she has helped many people reach a heightened state of relaxation, recover from injury, alleviate stress, as well as rejuvenate and stimulate their energy levels. Ms. Boyo has nearly a decade of experience in the field of massage therapy, and earned her licensed massage therapist (LMT) qualification from Delgado College in New Orleans, Louisiana. She has always possessed an entrepreneurial spirit and drive; knowing one day she would have her own business and possibly a chain of franchised massage clinics.
Once she arrived in Dallas, Texas in August of 2005 she applied to the Texas Department of State Health Services. She was then granted the opportunity to take the state boards in Austin, Texas where she earned her license from the State of Texas in September of 2005. Ms. Boyo will soon receive her Medical Massage Practitioner Certification and she is due to graduate from the University of North Texas with a Bachelors Degree from the school of Public Affairs and Community Service in the near future. She also plans to earn her MBA soon there after.
Reviews of Ms. Boyo’s capabilities are in abundance, as clients love her caring touch, communication skills and specific knowledge of anatomy. For instance, one client said “She has Healing Hands” and another happy client said “I feel so much better; I can now take on the world!” Many others have said “she’s the best kept secret in DeSoto”.
Before starting “I Need A Massage” therapeutic & wellness services, Ms. Boyo worked as a independent Massage contractor inside the Duncanville Athletic Club. When the Club closed suddenly, she was then fortunate to work for the Massage Envy chain at the Old Towne location in North Dallas. Here she was able to see the great possibilities of massage therapy for the masses. She also identified and gained valuable knowledge from that particular massage chain from the inside out. This will prove to be very beneficial in the future implementation of “I Need A Massage”, LLC therapeutic & wellness services. When she made the decision to leave Massage Envy she went on to work for Impressions Hair Salon in DeSoto, Texas. After working for Impressions for a little over a year Ms. Boyo decided to go back into business for herself.
In 2008 she opened “I Need A Massage” therapeutic & wellness services on Hampton Rd. in DeSoto, Texas. Having her customer base already established made the transition into her own business less difficult. Over the course of a few months her business began to show great potential, there was a steady flow of clients and word of mouth was responsible for the greatest source of new clientele and by the end of 2008 she was considering hiring other therapists. By March of 2009 the business had grown in such a way that her initial desire of 96 clients per month was met and exceeded. By August that number had increased tremendously that she then began turning away new clients weekly….because unfortunately she was unable to accommodate them. This prompted her to start the interviewing process, to hire more Massage Therapists.
On September 30, 2009 Ms. Boyo was in a horrible car accident and everything came to a standstill, her life and business ended as she knew it. This incident caused Ms. Boyo to cease operations of her business, and for most of 2010 she concentrated on rehabilitation so she could return to massage. Amazingly in a year’s time she was able to return to the thing she loved; Massage Therapy opening a new location in October of 2010 inside the Bridgemoor at DeSoto. When she returned to work her clients were ecstatic and quickly returned to her practice. Since 2005 Ms. Boyo has lived and worked here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area having the pleasure of providing Massage Therapy services to more that eight hundred clients, many of them are still clients today.
Despite becoming a widow in January of 2000, managing her busy career in Massage Therapy and with the up and downs of life challenges, Ms. Boyo has managed to raise three children. A son Gbubemi age 21 who has the entrepreneurial spirit of his mother. A daughter Na’ILah age 18 who attends a Texas A&M University studying to earn her PhD in Psychology. Her baby girl, Sabreeyah age 13 is a natural dancer and is studying Theater Arts at a magnet middle school. When Ms. Boyo is not working she likes to cook while entertaining family and friends, loves watching football -especially her New Orleans Saints. She also designs and makes clothing in her spare time, and of course talks to any and every one about the health benefits of Massage Therapy.
